Let the countdown begin! We're a mere few months away from completion on the renovation and building project. The interior of the existing building is undergoing a massive change.
As you can see in Photo 1, once the existing plaster walls came down we found a few interesting things. This could easily be a deserted storefront in Rome, but in actuality, it is the original brickwork from the exterior of the original building. It will soon be the back portion of the reference desk. What looks like windows will remain glass-less openings that look directly into the portion of the new space.
Photo II is a view of the old fiction and large print stacks. This wide open space will soon house the new Main Desk and fiction stacks, along with an entry way from the new lobby into the existing building. It looks drastically different without orange carpet and rows of stacks.
Photo three is a view of one new quiet study room on the second floor. if you look closely, you can also see into the Children's staff work room (it's hard to tell when it's just studs)!
There is still plenty to do, as you can tell! We need to hang sheet rock, install lights, put down carpet and so much more.
The next time you here from me, Fall will be in the air!
