Join us on June 16th at 6:30 for From the Kitchen to the Capital: A Trio of Fiesty CT Women.
This unique talk by Diana Ross McCain recounts three stories of pioneering Connecticut women -- Amelia Simmons, who published the first American cookbook in Hartford in 1796; Julia and Abby Smith of Glastonbury, elderly spinster sisters who in the late 1800s made news across the nation for their fight against the injustice of being required to pay taxes without being allowed to vote; and Ella Grasso of Windsor Locks, who in 1974 became the first woman to be elected governor of a state without having succeeded her husband in office. This is a must see event!
Program will be held at the Torrington Library. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is encouraged. Registration is only available by clicking here. Feel free to drop in to the program as well!
