We need your help to fill up our gooey, cheesy pizza with delicious toppings! Here’s what we need from you: · Read your favorite books from the Torrington Library this February! · Keep a log of the title, author and number of pages in each book on the back of this sheet. · Every so often bring your log to the library (we recommend visiting the library with your log after every 100 pages read). · For every 100 pages read, you will receive a “pizza topping”. Write your name on the topping and stick it to our extra large pizza near the Main Desk. The goal is to fill the pizza with toppings by reading thousands of pages this winter! · Turn in your completed log by February 28th. Whoever has the most “pizza toppings” will win a Pizza Party with Miss Jill and Miss Jeni! The Pizza Party will be on a day convenient for the winner, Miss Jill and Miss Jeni. The winner can bring three guests to their special Pizza Party! Print a reading log by clicking here, or visit the Torrington Library! All participants must read age appropriate books from the Torrington Library collection. We will have tables and chairs set-up just like an old fashioned dinner theater! We will also have popcorn and beverages available! You can bring anything from a sandwich, to sushi, to a take-out meal from your favorite restaurant! We encourage you to bring friends along and have night-on-the town! February's movie is Maleficent on Thursday, February 5th at 6:00pm! Robert Stromberg's Maleficent stars Angelina Jolie stars as the title character, who, as a teenager, is a powerful and respected winged fairy helping to rule a magical land full of strange creatures. Her homeland borders a country that is populated by humans and run by the cruel King Henry (Kenneth Cranham). One day, Henry's son Stefan (Jackson Bews) traipses into the fairy's land and meets Maleficent, causing the two crazy teens to fall into forbidden love. Year later, Henry seeks to take over the magical land next to his kingdom, but is thwarted in battle by Maleficent. He demands revenge, and eventually his now-grown son Stefan (played as an adult by Sharlto Copley) succeeds by betraying the fairy and clipping her wings. In response, an infuriated Maleficent swears revenge on Stefan; she gets her chance when the prince becomes king and has his first child, a daughter named Aurora (Elle Fanning) -- as Sleeping Beauty fans will remember, Maleficent curses her to fall into a death-like sleep after pricking her finger on a spinning wheel on her 16th birthday.
