Osteoporosis: How to prevent it, who’s at risk, and testing and management. Plus, nutrition for women’s health. The presentation will be followed by a question and answer period. Presenter’s Bio: Tamara (Tamie) J. Vasquez is a family nurse practitioner. She earned her BSN from Central Connecticut State University, and her MSN from Frontier Nursing University.Tamie has over 20 years of nursing experience, and has focused on women’s health in the operating room and maternity departments. She is also certified as a national health care disaster professional (NHDP-BC), and has been deployed with FEMA to disaster sites. Additionally, Tamie spent 21 years in the U.S. Army and is a veteran of the Iraq war. Something Old, Something New: Connecticut Weddings Through the Ages

This program uses CHS’s extensive collection of wedding clothing, accessories, photographs and prints to examine some of our ideas about what makes a “traditional” wedding, and what those traditions can reveal about how ideas about marriage have changed through the years. Bohemian Rhapsody Thursday, May 30th at 6:00 Registration begins May 1st Bohemian Rhapsody is a foot-stomping celebration of Queen, their music and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury. Freddie defied stereotypes and shattered convention to become one of the most beloved entertainers on the planet. The film traces the meteoric rise of the band through their iconic songs and revolutionary sound. They reach unparalleled success, but in an unexpected turn Freddie, surrounded by darker influences, shuns Queen in pursuit of his solo career. Having suffered greatly without the collaboration of Queen, Freddie manages to reunite with his bandmates just in time for Live Aid. Intro to Digital Skills Tuesday, June 11th at 11am Registration begins June 1st This workshop defines what digital skills are and where they apply in the workplace. Internet Safety Tuesday, July 9th at 11am Registration begins June 15th Identifies common internet scams and dangers and how to effectively identify security issues and combat them. Register for the whole series beginning May 1st or each individual class on the designated registration date. Sunday, April 28th at 1pm Register by April 21st Upon closing, the Torrington Beth El Synagogue generously donated three historic, donor plaques to the Torrington Library. The library has hung the plaques in a permanent location where they can be viewed by the public during library hours and special events. Please join us as we celebrate the unveiling of the plaques.
