Teen Events in January and February

On Tuesday, January 14th from 4:00-4:45, the library will host a Clothespin Picture Frame Workshop for ages ages 12-17! Make a cool clothes pin picture frame to hang up! The library provides all supplies.

On Friday, February, 7th from 4:00-4:45, the library will host a Cork Art program for ages 12-17.

Winter Read-A-Thon!

We're got a challenge for you this Winter! Read as many Torrington Library books as you can from January-March 2014!

Our goal is to have patrons read 5,000 books in three months! We know you can do it!

Here's how it works:

Keep track of the Torrington Library books you've read in our reading log (copies available in the library or click here).
Hand in your logs every Friday (or the last Friday of the month...whichever is easiest for you). You can also email your logs to Jessica at [email protected]. Simply provide us with your name and email address and the books you've read.

Remember, the books you read must be from the Torrington Library! This can include audio books, eBooks through OverDrive, and books from any of our regular collections (adult, YA, juvenile, fiction, and non fiction).

At the end of the read-a-thon, the person who reads the most Torrington Library Kids Books 1 (pre-K through Grade 3); Kid’s Books 2 (Grades 4-6); and Adults (Ages 13+) will win a cool prize!

Beatles Program in January!

The Beatles: Band of the Sixties Presented by Aaron Krerowicz
Wednesday, January 8th at 6:30. Registration begins December 15th
Funded by the Community Foundation of Northwest Connecticut/Keroden Endowment Fund

Aaron will give an entertaining and interactive history of the Beatles and their rise to superstardom in the United States in the 1960s. Not only were the Beatles all the rage, but the 1960s saw an important shift in the library—the town of Torrington was still recovering from the 1955 Flood and in the spirit of revitalization, the library turned over a significant portion of land to the city to ensure the city would become a vibrant and beautiful place to thrive and live once again. While the Beatles performed “Love me Do” the library was “loving” its hometown!
