Diet and Exercise Seminar!

12/22/2016

Picture
Join us on Thursday, January 26th at 6:30 in the Program Room for Why Focusing on Diet & Weight Loss Alone is a Losing Strategy for Better Health.

Nearly everyone has undertaken a diet or exercise program to improve their health, but sooner or later the novelty wears off and reality crashes the party. We revert back to our old habits, and the weight loss or toned physique we acquired quickly fades away. This seminar by Jesse Lang will explain why tweaking one part of your health, such as your diet or your exercise program, is not enough for better health. It explains how health is comprised of multiple factors such as sleep, anxiety, willpower and happiness, and that neglecting one component of your health will prevent you from achieving success in other areas. It is only by addressing all of the factors in one’s health that long-lasting health improvements will come.

Jesse is a lifelong student of health. A graduate of the University of New Hampshire and the University of Connecticut, he has accumulated over 11 years of undergraduate and graduate level coursework. He is a licensed physical therapist, a former medical student, an author of 7 academic papers on a variety of health-related topics, a former Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and a prolific lecturer.

They Called Her Reckless: A True Story of War, Love and One Extraordinary Horse By Janet Barrett
Thursday, January 12th
Registration begins January 3rd
Held in the Program Room

When the U.S. Marine Fifth Regiment's Recoilless Rifle Platoon acquired a small Korean pony to haul ammunition up the steep hills to the front lines, what they got was a true warhorse, the courageous and indomitable Reckless, who stood with her buddies for two years during the Korean War, saving lives, raising spirits, and winning the love and respect of all who knew her.

In that last bloody fight, surpassing all expectations, she hauled ammunition for three days and nights wherever it was needed. For wounds sustained, she was awarded two Purple Hearts. Awe-inspiring, heartwarming, and downright funny, just as her fellow Marines remember her, "They Called Her Reckless" tells of an incredible human-horse connection and the power it unleashed. Presented by author, Janet Barrett.

It's a Wonderful Life Moving Showing

12/6/2016

Picture
Join us as we view this classic holiday favorite film--It's a Wonderful Life on Thursday, December 22nd at 6:00pm.

This is director Frank Capra's classic bittersweet comedy/drama about George Bailey (James Stewart), the eternally-in-debt guiding force of a bank in the typical American small town of Bedford Falls.  After a nightmarish odyssey through a George Bailey-less Bedford Falls (now a glorified slum called Potterville), wherein none of his friends or family recognize him, George is made to realize how many lives he has touched, and helped, through his existence; and, just as his angel Clarence had planned, George awakens to the fact that, despite all its deprivations, he has truly had a wonderful life.

Running Time: 129 Minutes / PG
