A Partnership between Prime Time House and The Torrington Library!
Register today! You are invited to join an online screening of the film, BEDLAM, followed by a panel discussion featuring Kenneth Paul Rosenberg, a psychiatrist, filmmaker, and a brother of a person with schizophrenia. Through intimate stores of patients, families, and medical providers, BEDLAM is a feature-length documentary that immerses us in the national crisis surrounding care of the seriously mentally ill. Filmed over five years, it brings us inside one of America’s busiest psychiatric emergency rooms, into jails where psychiatric patients are warehoused, and to the homes - and homeless encampments - of mentally ill members of our communities, where silence and shame often compound personal suffering. The story is told in part by director Kenneth Paul Rosenberg, MD, whose own life journey has been profoundly impacted by a seriously mentally ill family member. The film will be available online October 24-25, with the panel discussion on October 26th from 7-8 PM. This program is sponsored by the generous support of: Burlington Construction, Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Litchfield Bancorp, Northwest Community Bank, Dr. Michael Kovalchik & Susan Vontell, Torrington Savings Bank, Chip & Louisa Roraback, Sullivan’s Northwest Hills.
